#DETOX is designed to prioritize God in the new year as we allow him to cleanse and renew our souls (Psalm 51:10). Together, we are committing to 21 days of prayer and fasting so that we might come into greater alignment with God’s will, purposes and plans believing and trusting in His power alone to create lasting impact and change in our lives, our church and our world.
Over the course of our #DETOX journey, we will have a daily prayer focus that will help guide and unify us as a community in prayer as we seek God's heart together on a variety of topics. You can find an overview of our daily prayer focus topics here. The following post is meant to serve as a reminder and inspiration on what and how you might pray on today's prayer focus, but should not limit how God leads you in praying. Be sure to follow along daily at our #DETOX Daily Blog here.
Prayer Focus: Christ Centered
Today marks the beginning of our #DETOX 21-day prayer and fasting journey as a church! We are full of expectation and anticipation for what God is going to do in your life and in our church community over the course of the next three weeks as we seek God together through prayer and fasting.
As we begin this journey together, spend some time today praying that Jesus would be at the heart and center of the next 21 days.
Colossians 1:15-17 says, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
The scripture tells us that Jesus is our source and our sustainer. Ultimately, we exist because of Jesus and for Jesus. Simply put, Jesus is the point…of everything.
This prayer & fasting journey is about encountering and experiencing more of Jesus. It’s about orienting ourselves around the person of Jesus and positioning ourselves in such a way that will enable us to draw nearer to him as he draws nearer to us. Over the next 21 days, we seek to become more and more consumed, overcome and obsessed with Jesus. That he would rise above all the noise, distraction, clutter and busyness of life and come into greater view, focus and clarity.
Spend time today inviting Jesus to enter into your daily prayer times and your fasting that you might see him more fully. As you intentionally carve out time to sit at his feet amidst the busyness of your day-to-day activities and tasks, may you connect with and hear from Jesus in ways you never have before. May you feel and sense his presence and his nearness. May you encounter his deep affection and love for you. May you experience his boundless grace. May you be reminded of his promises. May you catch a glimpse of his beauty and glory. And may you discover more and more of his purposes and plans for your life not only in the coming weeks, but in the months and year to come.
As you commit to praying and fasting over the next 21 days, may The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
